Les Everglades d´Argentine

hola again...

Peace and wildlife... well after the kind of horror of Buenos Aires... we headed for another 9 hours of bus, 2h break and well another 3 hours of 4x4 on a bumby sandy road to get to the ¨pantanal¨of Argentine - Esteros del ibera, a sort of reserve like the Everglades in Florida or the brazilian pantanal of course... where we hoped to see the capybara...

As soon as we got there, we were hit by the incredible peaceful village, smiling people... and booked in a 2h boat tour and 2h walking tour...

in short... it was incredible... we have seen a gorgeous landscape... martin pescadores gigantes (very rare bird)... tons of caymans (alligators) they were just everywhere (see pics with Robert)... lots of birds... a deer and of course the famous capywara (funny animal though), looks like a giant version of a ginea pig (un grand cochon d´inde quoi)... besides this, the incredible calm of the whole (gigantic) region was so amazing... If ever anybody wants to know where do live the happiest people on earth, those locals were not far away from...

Our walking trip (after some indigenous pasta - delicious) led us through a bit of forest where we learned some specifics of plants and where we were looking for the famous ¨howler monkey¨ )which we found only on the second run - a small but funny monkey, not very activ though at this time of the day... most interestin for my part, one kind of liana which the indigenes cut and put in the water to... listen very well... catch fish... a small piece is enough to kill some fish which you easily can eat after barbecueing... how does it work... well.. the substance of the small piece of the liana takes out all the oxygene in the part of water you dump it... the fishes can simply not ¨breathe¨ anymore... (add from pat.. the funny thing about this is that the exact same technique is used by the Australian Aborigenes which leads to think that they have the same origins or that same wisdom has its roots in higher spheres)... anyway... a really interesting tour (we nearly ¨cooked¨to death but anyway...

of course after all this... we really would have loved and hesitated to stay for a sunrise or sunset trip and 1-2 days of relaxing and enjoying this lovely (but rudimentary) place with its peaceful ambiance (I could live like that I guess although I would definitely miss skiing... lol...)... but well, the 4x4 left the same day or 4 days later so we had to leave at 4pm for another 5h of 4x4 and 6h of bus in direction of Puerto Iguazu... to discover the ¨Lost World¨... a forgotten paradise (unfortunately not)... but more of this in the next report...

take it easy
